Today is National Child Care Provider Appreciation Day! Child care providers work hard every day to keep our children safe and healthy and foster their learning. Take a moment to thank your child care provider!

Today, Old Grove Farm from Redlands visited East Heritage Elementary and gave the students a "farmer's market" experience. This event was organized by our committed child nutrition team, and the students enjoyed it. They also had the opportunity to take some veggies home.

Here are some happy Etiwanda students and families from last week's AAPEAC Family Engagement Night.

April 25 is Administrative Professionals Day! We appreciate all of the hard work our excellent administrative professionals do in the Etiwanda School District. Thank you for supporting our students, staff, and families! Take a moment and say thank you!

April is National School Library Month. Take a moment to thank the amazing library staff at your school site. School librarians work with every student in the school, providing the resources and support learners need in school and beyond and nurturing their love of reading!

We are so proud of Jup Singh, an eighth-grade student from Heritage Intermediate, who will represent Etiwanda School District and San Bernardino County at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May. Congratulations Jup!

Tonight, the City of Rancho Cucamonga City Council recognized Board Member David Long's service to the community. His daughter, Desiree Clark, accepted the certificate on his behalf.

Today is dedicated to the school library staff who instill a love of reading in students, help teachers with all the necessary resources, and engage our families in the school community. Don't forget to take some time this week to thank your school library staff.

Etiwanda's LCAP Community Forums will be held on April 4th and 6th. We will offer virtual and in-person community forums. Parents, employees, and members of the community are all welcome, and we'd love to hear from you. Mrs. Porrino's 4th grade class at East Heritage created a catapult using popsicle sticks, rubber bands and candy corn. Students spent time learning about catapults and the science behind them. They then applied that knowledge and tried to create their own. #stemintheclassroom

The leprechaun trap STEAM activity was a hit with the child care students at East Heritage. They had a lot of fun trying to catch a leprechaun while using some imagination, physics, and engineering.

The 15th Battle of the Books was fantastic! Our Etiwanda Library Team, students, families, and all of the volunteers made Saturday's event a huge success. Congratulations to not just the winning teams but to all the students who worked so hard preparing for this event by reading all of the required books.

Please join us in wishing good luck to all Etiwanda students competing in this year's Battle of the Books! They have worked so hard leading up to this event, and we are certain they will have a great time competing tomorrow.

From eating green eggs and ham to dressing up as a favorite literacy character, our Etiwanda students had a great time during their Read Across America activities. At Golden Elementary, we even had community volunteers from the Arrowheart Foundation read to some of our students.

Happy Read Across America Day!

Today, we're giving a high five to the members of SEAC, a student advisory group. They have met with a district advisor a few times this school year to give feedback on programs at their school sites. Throughout the meetings, they are engaged, kind, and responsible.

We had a tremendous turnout at last night's district spelling bee. Congratulations to all of our Etiwanda students who participated in this event and will move on to the county level. #EtiwandaExcellence
