A special high five is going out to the Terra Vista community from the Elassadi family! Miss Nadia and her sons Laith, Mikal, and Yasin appreciate the support in helping them grow awareness over the past few years! Timmy was greeting his pack at the front gates, giving high fives to his special guest today. "Light it up blue" with hearts so true.

We are so proud of Jup Singh, an eighth-grade student from Heritage Intermediate, who will represent Etiwanda School District and San Bernardino County at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May. Congratulations Jup!

Tonight, the City of Rancho Cucamonga City Council recognized Board Member David Long's service to the community. His daughter, Desiree Clark, accepted the certificate on his behalf.

Today is dedicated to the school library staff who instill a love of reading in students, help teachers with all the necessary resources, and engage our families in the school community. Don't forget to take some time this week to thank your school library staff.

Mikal, a Terra Vista Timberwolf, is receiving a high five today! He participated in the PTA Reflections program, where he earned the Award of Excellence for his visual art project by creating an illustration of a situation where he uses his voice to stick up for a friend against a bully. He is a wonderful observer; he loves to ask questions, learn new facts, and make new friends. An honor roll student with lots of ambition and a great big smile, always ready to give a high five. Way to go, Mikal!

The 15th Battle of the Books was fantastic! Our Etiwanda Library Team, students, families, and all of the volunteers made Saturday's event a huge success. Congratulations to not just the winning teams but to all the students who worked so hard preparing for this event by reading all of the required books.

Please join us in wishing good luck to all Etiwanda students competing in this year's Battle of the Books! They have worked so hard leading up to this event, and we are certain they will have a great time competing tomorrow.

Adam from Terra Vista had a great time dressing up as his favorite book, "The Giving Tree."

From eating green eggs and ham to dressing up as a favorite literacy character, our Etiwanda students had a great time during their Read Across America activities. At Golden Elementary, we even had community volunteers from the Arrowheart Foundation read to some of our students.

Happy Read Across America Day!

Today, we're giving a high five to the members of SEAC, a student advisory group. They have met with a district advisor a few times this school year to give feedback on programs at their school sites. Throughout the meetings, they are engaged, kind, and responsible.

We had a tremendous turnout at last night's district spelling bee. Congratulations to all of our Etiwanda students who participated in this event and will move on to the county level. #EtiwandaExcellence

Samuel Matthew, Abheri Surredi, and Jupharnoor Singh are the top three spellers from last night, with Jupharnoor Singh, an eighth-grader from Heritage Intermediate, taking first place. #EtiwandaExcellence

This week's spotlight shines on Miranda Lowman, campus support at Terra Vista Elementary. Miranda goes above and beyond to help the students at Terra Vista, where they count on her tremendously to support students and staff. We are certain they are thankful for her hard work!

Mrs. Bowman, an instructional aide and campus support at Terra Vista Elementary, is getting a high five today from her Timberwolves. Every Friday Mrs. Bowman brings out music and has a dance party with her 5th graders. Today she taught her students the Cupid Shuffle. How fun!
